USS Nimitz CVN-68
by Volker Engler

1/200 USS Nimitz CVN-68 (Scratchbuilt)

The ship was built in approx. 1400 working hours in the year 2005 and with RC as well as other technical components equipped. The hull is made of GRP and the deck as well as the island from Polystyrene.

In 2007, the model was rebuilt, taking approx. 250 hours, bringing Nimitz up to her 2001 fit. Phalanx cannons, radomes and new airplanes were installed. Further, a second servo for the helm was added. Additionally, a 20 W an amplifier and two new loudspeakers were installed.

The island with mast was completely rebuilt and lit. Contrary to the original the Nimitz, which no longer has catapults on the angled deck. For optical reasons, I did not remove them.
