1/350 HMS Illustrious 2005 (Airfix)
This is the Airfix Illustrious depicted late in 2005 during exercise "Neptune Warrior" with both Sea Harriers and Harriers GR 7/9 on board. Additional aircraft sprues were obtained from Airfix, and the excellent WEM PE for both ship and air wing was used. The Sea Kings were further detailed with WEM resin upgrades. BMK machined brass drop tanks were used on the Harriers.
The model built fairly well, some putty was needed. The start line was
masked and resprayed in black as most of it is too light. The big "L" on
the flight deck was masked and sprayed.
