1/350 IJN Akagi (Hasegawa)
This has been a long build, originally started 05 September and stopped 25 October 2011 due to problems with the dry decals on the flight deck. The ship was 90% complete and I put it away out of the sun and dust to consider what I would do. Recently, I have seen that there is a planned release of a 1/350 Kaga, and that prompted me to stop work on my 1/350 Hipper and re-start on the Akagi 12 July. I also used the Fujimi aircraft as they looked easier to paint than the kit ones. Even using some dry decals from a non-purchased Hiryu I was able to get at least some basic deck work done. I had used dry decals for years on 1/35 military and rarely had a problem, so perhaps the deck, purchased so long ago with the ship may have been a bit old or lost some of its original bonding? Perhaps in hindsight I may have bought a newer deck and had no problems at all?
So after a bit of touching up and finishing she is done now, an older kit but very impressive.
