IJN Junyo

1/700 IJN Junyo (Tamiya)

This is Tamiya's 1/700 IJN Aircraft Carrier Junyo. She was one of the larger carrier conversions done by the Japanese. Along with a sister ship (Hiyo) she was originally going to be a passenger liner.

I built her a few years ago and painted her dark gray, with a brown flight deck - just like she's pictured in the Tamiya catalogue. But I later learned (though this website - thanks!) that she carried a much more interesting camo scheme. Back to the bench she went for re-painting.

This is my attempt to render that scheme. Definitely more fun than another dark gray paint job.
