1/700 IJN Katsuragi (Aoshima)
Imperial Japanese Navy medium 22,000 ton aircraft carrier Katsuragi, capable of carrying 65 aircraft, was completed in 1944 but never saw fleet action because of shortage of planes and pilots. She spent much of the rest of the war under camouflage and several bombing attacks in the inland sea, and post-war was used as a transport to repatriate troops. The model is photographed with a Hasegawa kit IJN destroyer alongside. The Aoshima kit is fine in fit and finish with a minimum of knife work required.
