1/700 IJN Ryujo (Fujimi)
This is the infamous Fujimi made IJN Ryujo that I’ve read about on the net. As far as I know this is the only company that makes the model, and a new tooling is sorely needed. Out of the box the kit it really crude. There are about 20 pieces total to build the kit out of the box, really simple. Aside from overscale details you will find, manufacturing defects in the plastic(incomplete moulding) and for some odd reason the deck will not sit flush with the hull with out removing ether deck or hull details. This was the most mystifying part of assembly. The two most important parts of the model, the deck and the hull, were not designed to fit together properly, really odd. Anyway IJN Carrier set A and B photoetch from Tom’s Modelworks, various sizes of wire, styrene and stretched sprue, plus two months went into the model. I replaced several details and all guns with Tamiya’s Heavy and Light ordinance sets. I’m really pleased with the outcome.
