 1/700 IJN Unyo (Aoshima)

The model is the Aoshima 1/700 scale Chuyo converted to her sister ship Unyo (I could not find Unyo at the time). The diorama is meant to depict Unyo's sinking by the USS Barb in September, 1944. The water geysers are painted and stretched cotton balls that were attached with white glue. The water is two layers of white spackle that was textured by way of crumpling up aluminum foil very much like what is done with resin. The water was painted with testor acrylics, drybrushed , and then given two coats of future floor wax. If you look closely, you will see three torpedo wakes leading up to the explosions.
