1/500 Destroyer Collection (Revell/Kitbash)

The two destroyers are USS Knox and HMS Ivanhoe.

The Knox is scratch from some Squadron Signal photos. I used 5"//38's from a Revell heavy cruiser and 40mm's from my huge Revell parts box. The anti aircraft configuration is as in 1945, (the anti kamikaze configuration), a total of 16 barrels.

The plastic parts for Ivanhoe came from a kit made in Poland. I used cedar for the hulls and GMM for the PE details. A first for me, there are two men on the bridge of the Ivanhoe. I don't think the camera will show them. The gun tubs were too thick on the 4 pdr's so I cut them off and used some of the brass sheet that comes with the PE. All molded ladders are removed and replaced with PE also. TT tubes are from a Lindburg DE.

Years ago I built this Everts class destroyer escort. After reading how they were converted into APD's, I decided to convert her into a fast attack transport. This is my uss Rednour (APD-102). I replaced the wooden bridge with a plastic piece from Lindburg after grinding a level or two off of the bottom. I made the 5"/38 from wood and a pin barrel. The LCVP's are from my USS Belinda. I made up the tripod boat crane from plastic kit pieces. Rails and radar are from GMM. The hull and original superstructure were all made of cedar and bass wood.
