1/240 USS Walker DD-163 (Revell)
This is my build of the Revell 1/240 HMS Campbeltown kit. I have modified the kit to become the USS Walker for the Destroyermen series by Taylor Anderson. The version I modeled shows her as she was when she was enroute to her final battle with the IJN Amagi. I scratch built the splinter shield on the number 1 gun from styrene sheet, removed both of the rear torpedo launchers, scratched the searchlight tower from brass rod, made the Coke machine from modeling clay and placed it amidships, made cages for the depth charges from spare PE parts, added rails from spare PE I had, modified the bridge structure, and added handrails to the stairs and ladders from spare PE parts. I made the base using the Chris Flodberg “oats” technique and am happy with how it turned out. I tried a few new things out on this kit and learned some good things. I really like the Destroyermen series and really enjoyed this build.
