1/350 USS Reuben James DD-245

1/350 USS Reuben James DD-245 (White Ensign Models)A nice little kit with excellent fit and little “flash”. Good instructions and some slightly finicky PE pieces. I really like the name plate they give with on the PE fret.
I like to experiment with one technique or material on every model I build for myself. This one is no exception, it is the first I rigged using stainless steel wire for the standing rigging. I had mixed success as you can see. In cold weather the rigging for the most part looks very good and much tauter than these photos show, in warm weather the wire expands a little and bows.
The ship is in Measure 2 camouflage of 5-D dark grey, 5-O ocean grey and 5-L light grey. The decks are 5-D. She wore this measure at the time of her loss in October 1941. She was the first US casualty to U-boats. All paints are acrylics from Model Master or Polly Scale.
