USS Trippe, May 1941

1/700 USS Trippe (Miship Models/Kraken)
This is the USS Trippe, May 1941 which I built using the Midship Models kit #02, USS Benham DD-397, with the Kraken USS Trippe detail set. The set is exquisitely detailed and builds up into a very nice rendition of the ship. I painted the Trippe in the Measure 2 camo scheme of 5H, 5O, and 5D, using a really nice photo in Navsource of the Trippe from May, 1941 for reference. In addition to the Kraken set I used Gold Medal Ultra railings and their USN DD/CA PE set, sratchbuilt the masts, used Lifecolor paints and rigged it with 20 denier Infini line. I was very impressed by the quality of the Kraken products, including the Sterett update set and their twin 40mm bofors, which are the most detailed I've ever seen. Matt Enoch was also very helpful and provided excellent service. I'm looking forward to their quad 40mm and any new detail sets thay have in the pipeline.
