USS Gwin

1/350 USS Gwin DD-433 (Yankee Modelworks)

Yankee Modelworks ( formerly BWN ) USS Gwin I built for Kym Knight's Doolittle diorama. He says he had too many destroyers to build and was pleased to hear I would build up one for him. The construction was routine for a resin kit (not the most clear instructions) however with Squadron's US Destroyers in Action part 3, I was able to place all the parts. The photo etch is excellent with some extra pieces when you may need them. I painted the ship with WEM Colourcoats anti fouling red on the lower hull and used Polyscale paints for topside. The camoflage is hand painted, based on MS 12 modified so it would fit into Kym's time period. The rigging is .003 tungsten wire. The kit is currently on its way in a seatrain container to Australia. I am currently building a 1/200 Yamato in 1945 fit.
