1/350 DDE-446 USS Radford (Tamiya)
Over the years, I have made numerous models, but I had reached the point where I wanted to push my skill to the next level. After looking at all the wonderful examples in this gallery I was Inspired to make an attempt. My goal build more than just the kit. Starting with the base Tamiya kit, I added sailor, guns, detail parts from Gold Medal Models, White Ensign and others. After a bit of research, I modified my ship by adding guns on the sides, opening a few hatches and the exhaust stacks. I added some real chain, and the airbrushed the ship. I’m not after an exact replica of a particular ship, but wanted something different than the standard kit DE 455 Fletcher’s. The DE-446 Radford seem to have an interesting history, so I picked that. My Other hobby is narrow Gauge model trains but I’m always fighting dust. I did not want to deal with dusting the model, hence the home made case.
I would be happy to share any of my learning's if you’re interested.
I hope my work inspires others like all the fantastic work displayed in
this Gallery
