1/700 USS Aaron Ward DD-483 (Pitroad)
I've been an avid model railroader for years. I needed a change of pace, modeling wise, from the railroad related models I've been building lately. I've always had an interest in naval history so I wanted to build a ship model. I decided to build the USS Aaron Ward, DD-483, as she appeared in November 1942 during the naval battle of Guadalcanal. The kit is the 1/700 scale Pitroad Monssen. It has been modified to resemble the Aaron Ward. I used White Ensign Model's Benson/ Gleaves photo etched detail set as well as Gold Metal Model's Figures and Watertight Doors sets. I also added styrene and paper shapes to add detail to the superstructure. This was my first ship model and a fun project. I look forward to building more ship models in the future!
