DD-491 USS Farenholt Old BWN kit now released under the Yankee Modelworks label. No major problems with the quality of parts but BWN's instructions weren't the greatest. As usual I did an experiment on this build, I used EZ-Line for most of the rigging. A mixed success, it does sag like I wanted it to and hold tension where I wanted it too but.......over time the taut section under the antenna spreader bar has stretched allowing the spreader bar to rise so it looks weird. The sags on port and starboard side originally matched but after 9 months you can see they don't any longer. The halyards are also starting to look a little odd. When taut EZ-Line looks great but when sagging it has a weird look and it doesn't appear to look good for very long. The ship is painted in Measure 12 modified and has one the wilder versions of the scheme. The masking for the camouflage was done with Silly Putty. Paints are all acrylics. Colors are 5-N navy blue, 5-O ocean grey, 5-H haze grey and 20-B deck blue.
