Subject: DD-649 A. W. Grant Pic's Date: Sun, 04 Aug 2002 13:07:55 -0500 From: dbecker1811 To: Ship_Gallery@modelwarships.com Howdy Sending pics of DD-649 USS Albert W. Grant as she appeared in the Battle for Leyte Gulf in October of 1944. Ship is painted in Measure 32/21d camouflage pattern. Model is another Tamiya 1/350 plastic Fletcher class destroyer kit. Used Tom's Modelworks Fletcher class destroyer kit with the square bridge to convert kit to the USS A. W. Grant. Conversion was simple and easy. As in the the often used Quote, "Just follow the Instructions - Dummy!" I found that with Tom's Conversion it is possible to do two conversions. One as a normal square bridged Fletcher DD and a round bridged Fletcher class DD with the AAW'45 enhanced Anti Kamikaze measures ship. Two for one - not bad! More coming!
