1/700 USS Frank E. Evans DD-754 (JAG)

The Frank E. Evans belonged to the Sumner Class and was built in 1944. After service in WW II and Korea she was one of the 33 Sumners that was modenized following the FRAM II Programm. Rebuilt in 1959 with new and better ASW capability she saw service in Pacific waters and off the coast of Vietnam. On June 2nd 1969 Frank E. Evans collided with the Australian Aircraft Carrier HMAS Melbourne and was cut into two pieces.

The model from Jag is nicely detailed and easy to built, only the photo etched parts are not that good. I replaced them by some better detailed parts from GMM. The main mast was made from plastic rod. The model was painted and weathered with enamels and acrylics, the display was made out of a picture frame. I crate the water with some transparent silicone following Frank Ilse’s method.
