1/350 USS George K. Mackenzie (Iron Shipwrights)
Model kit is the Iron Shipwright 1/350 USS Johnston. I built the kit as the DD-836 USS G. K. Mackenzie in 1967 during a tour escorting the Oriskany in Tonkin Gulf.
Built straight out of the box but substituted GMM SPS-40 and SPS-10 for the kits radar's which seemed a little small. Foremast was scratch built from brass tubing and sheet plastic. Kits mast was badly bent out of shape in shipping. Felt it was easier to scratch build a new mast instead of trying to fix the kits.
