1/700 USS Cole DDG-67 (DML)

This is the Dragon 1/700 Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer kit, which I numbered as the USS Cole, DDG 67. I'm always inspired to build ships that are part of current events. I built this as a tribute to the Cole and her gallant crew, 17 of whom lost their lives when the ship was attacked by Al-Qaida terrorists in Yemen in October 2000.

The combat systems of the Arleigh Burke class, like the larger (and older) Ticonderoga-class cruisers, center around the Aegis combat system and the SPY-lD multi-function phased array radar.
