1/350 USS Duncan DDR-874 (Blue Water Navy/Yankee Model Works)
I was recently challenged that "I've never built a model." So, I dug up some old photos of the last model I built, which was admittedly in 2004.
I built this model of Duncan for a sailor who served on her in the time period shown. I started with the standard Blue Water Navy Gearing kit, with some scratchbuilt details. I didn't have an SPS-8 to go on the rear deckhouse, so I pieced one together from scrap PE to at least simulate it. The hedgehog lauchers are also scratchbuilt, and the 3"/50's are from Iron Shipwrights.
The DesRon5 badge on the funnel was a custom decal I printed on white decal paper.
By today's standards of detail, she's pretty plain- but she's proof I've actually built a model at one time!
