1/300 USS Samuel B Roberts DE-413 (Lindberg)
TAFFY 3 escort carriers. I have always been fascinated by the fact that this ship, less than a year commissioned, ran straight into a line of Japanese battleships, cruisers, and destroyers and went toe to toe with them.Not being able to find a butler class Destroyer escort, I found that a Ruddrow class was the same basically with the exception of the power plants and gearing. Lindberg models (yeah I know) is the only one that makes that class so I purchased it and made modifications to make her into the Sammy B. The ‘bomb blast’ was my first attempt at simulating combat conditions. I added 1/350 Pe railings to give it a more “authentic” look as well as rigging the model.
