1/96 HMS Amazon (Deans Marine)
Amazon is a Deans Marine Kit, quite simple to build and is to a scale of 1/96. Built on a GRP hull, plastic card superstructure, but only being fitted with a single shaft as per the kit and not triple shafts as per the original.
This British "F" {Tribal} class destroyer of the 1908-09 program was 280 ft long by 27 ft in beam and displaced 1090t, and when completed was amongst the most advanced destroyers in the world. All the Tribal's had turbine machinery, were oil fueled and had a performance of between 33 - 36 kts. They were well armed, having 2 x 4inch mounted fore and aft, plus 2 x 18inch TT and an ocean going capability, thus being able to keep pace with the fleet to provide the essential destroyer screen.
