HMS Cadiz

1/192 HMS Cadiz (Scratchbuilt)

The encouragement I received from other modellers the likes of Jim Baumann encouraged me to submit my second entry. This time the model is HMS CADIZ which was originally built over 30 years ago but was remodelled 6 years ago to improve overall appearance.

Although the model is not one of my best, she holds a special place for me, for with it I established a pattern of making models which I have adopted almost unchanged up to this day.

This model is based on a 1/192 scale plan from the Norman Ough collection backed up by numerous photos.

The material used is soft wood for the hull and superstructure. Brass and/or steel used for the small details

Before I am beamed up permanantly, I hope to finish the most important classes of 20th century Royal Navy warships. As far as destroyers are concerned my favourite classes are the Tribals, Battle and M classes. HMS Cadiz forms part of this grouping. The difference from the original included the replacement of the original wooden main mast by a photoetched one based on my own drawings, all anti-aircraft guns and dept charges, the rest is unaltered!
