HMS Dainty
by Phil Reeder

1/350 HMS Dainty (White Ensign Kitbash)

As a change from the usual light/dark gray colour schemes for RN destroyers,I decided to kitbash the WEM Glowworm kit to represent HMS Dainty leaving Portsmouth in 1934,for a stint in the Far East. She looked very smart in her "China Station" colour scheme of white hull, and buff upperworks. I use a plan drawn by Norman Ough,of her sister, the Daring,as a guide during construction, which turned out to be more involved than I first thought. As I did a WIP on "Picture Post",I won`t go into details here.Nevertheless,it was one of the most enjoyable builds I`ve done in a long time, and it has persuaded me to "have a go " at some more of WEM`s G&H`s.
