HMS Glowworm

1/350 HMS Glowworm (White Ensign)

The HMS Glowworm needs no introduction, and is proving to be a popular subject among RN modelers. My rendition is the second part of a triple RN destroyer build which started in the summer of 2009. I used the same techniques as I did in my HMS Havelock build: drilled and added "eyebrows" to the portholes, simulated hull plating with Mr Surfacer 500, scratchbuilt brass masts, added BMK barrels, detailed the torpedo tubes, TBS derricks, depth charges and throwers, 0.50 machine guns, bridge, auxiliary steering position and various other minor bits and pieces. Vaious WEM and L'Arsenal PE bits and bobs were used in the process.

The ship was painted with WEM 507B & C, with 507A and corticene decks, all lightened for scale effect, and weathered with oils and powders.
