1/700 HMS Kashmir 1939 (WEM)

The K class destroyers also known as the Kelly's were part of the solution to the problem of a ''all gun destroyers'' as the tribal were dubbed. The new destroyers were required to be an effective torpedo carrier and to carry a cable AA armament. New designs for this class include the single funnel and the deletion of Y mount and the new twin 4.7inch gun. Overall The J, K, N classes bore the brunt of the losses with 11 out of 24 sunk in the war.

HMS Kashmir

Was launched in April 1939 and formed part of the 5th flotilla then she joined the Home fleet. She also took part in the sinking of U35 then she participated in the Norwegian campaign. Then with rest of the 7, "K" class ships, she was transferred to the Mediterranean, were she was tragically sunk by Dive bombers of Crete on the 22nd May 1940.

The Model was a joy to build, it was practically built out of the box, the model is very crisp and the superstructure is detailed immaculately. I used the PE Provided also I used WEM's colourcoats for the whole model. Finally I added GMM naval figures and the rigging is from stretched sprue.

Also I would like to thank Mike Mccabe for supplying helpful pictures of the bridge.
