1/350 HMS Kelly

1/350 HMS Kelly K Class (White Ensign Models)Probably the best resin kit I have ever built! Very little resin from mold tearout, no pinholes or bubbles, excellent fit, excellent PE with extras and easy to follow instructions. What pour plugs there were on the parts were as easy as snipping parts off an injection sprue. For an idea how sweet the PE is take a look at the last two photos, the Kelly nameplate is PE and there are plates for a large number of ships on the fret.
The experiment on this build was mixing a color, Mountbatten Pink to be exact. I got it close but a little too purple compared to the Snyder & Short chip. Rigging is my old standard of heat tensioned tippett, some the halyards popped loose and were quickly tacked back in place just before shooting the photos.
Paints are all acrylic. I used Polly Scale “old concrete” for the semtex decks, Aeromaster RLM 75 for the steel decks and mixed artists’ acrylics to make Mountbatten Pink using liquitex airbrush medium to spray it. My wife is tickled that “she now has” a pink Spitfire, a pink M1A1 Abrams and a “pink” ship.
