Subject: HMS Sheffield - email 1 of 3 Date: Tue, 30 Dec 2003 19:12:31 +0100 From: "Patrick Camilleri" To: Hi Tim, This model of HMS Sheffield is to a scale of 1:600 and is scratchbuilt off plans that appeared in the February 1975 issue of Scale Models magazine. It can therefore sit happily with my other 1:600 scale ships. Some 500 individual parts have gone into this model. The model was completely built out of plastic card and sprue except for the fuselage of the helicopter – I presume this came from an Amazon kit. (Funnily enough, this helicopter was inside the box of a Rommel kit that I bought off ebay. There were a number of other ‘copters of different types in the same box. The previous owner must have put them there for some reason or another). I was lucky to find that White Ensign had PE frets for this type of destroyer left over from the ones they supplied with their HMS Exeter kit.
