IJN Yukikaze

1/350 IJN Yukikaze 1940 (Hasegawa)

This is the 1/350 Hasegawa Yukikaze 1940 with the Eduard PE set, Fine Molds brass barrels, and Goffy and Fujimi figures. It is rigged with Dai Riki monofilament. Paints are Tamiya Sasebo Gray & Linoleum.

New techniques for me in this build are the use of paper (roll-your-own cigarette paper actually) to represent the canvas railing covers, the home-made paper flags (Thank you, Jim Baumann), using cotton for the waves (Thank you, Reiner Michalek –now I know how difficult this is to get right- haven’t managed it properly yet!) and the use of Goffy figures (Thank you, Peter Van Buren!).

It was a very pleasant build, as the parts actually fit, and its always good to extend your skills.

The model was photographed using the Helicon Focus software. As I am still learning how to use it properly, some of the photos may look a bit strange!
