1/700 JMSDF Ariake DD-183 (Tamiya)
I built this little DD as part of a JMSDF group build with my local
model club. I'm not a big fan of JMSDF nor modern subject, so I got away
with this WWII vet Fletcher class DD, ex-USS Heywood L. Edwards. Since
I didn't have the late war version, I converted Tamiya round-bridged Fletcher
to the JMSDF fit, around 1961 before her modernization. I used styrene
sheets to build new squared bridge, AA platforms and the accommodation
block. PE and details were assorted from GMM, Lionroar, Voyager and some
Evergreen 0.013 mm sheet. I found it's a nice change and break from my
usual WWII stuff.
