1/350 Sovremenny (Trumpeter)
G'day all. This is my model of the Project 956, Sovremenny class guided missile destroyer. I can't tell you the name of the ship because I don't know the English translation so if someone does and could let me know, that would be great. I modelled it as a later version with the square top plate radar and later mainmast. I painted it using WEM northern fleets gray but the deck are the same paints as my previous Slava class. I used the Gold Medal Models photoetch over the WEM set as the GMM set was that much better; however I did use the boat crane platforms and a aerial or two from the WEM set. One thing I found out later on is that if you build the ship with the hanger all the way in as I did, the decal for the helo deck doesn’t go all the way to the hanger doors and you're left with a gap as you can see on my photos- but I'm not to worried about it. The aerials are stretched sprue and the flag ropes are elastic ezy line. I hope you all like my latest submission to this site.
