1/350 Marine Corsairs in Bougainville (Misc)
Inspired by the many photos of Corsairs in the Solomons campaign, this little diorama remembers the Marine Corsairs in their element on the airfield hopping campaign up the Solomon Islands chain in 1943-1944.The aircraft are from a box of Trumpeter’s 1:350 Corsairs with a few minor scratch details added, the vehicles, boxes, oil drums etc are from the excellent L’Arsenal range, and figures from North Star Models.
Although not a ship, there are clear links to naval aviation, and to naval modeling. I like the smaller details and aircraft when ship modelling, so thought a little diorama focusing on just these elements might be a good idea, and was enjoyable put together.
