1/350 USS Haraden DD-183 & DD-585 (ISW - Trumpeter)
A Pair of Haraden’s The genesis of this project was first finding out that a friend was a descendant of Revolutionary War Privateer Jonathan Haraden, then subsequently finding out that two United States Navy destroyers had been named after Captain Haraden. This information inspired me to want to build models of both ships.
After researching which two ships were named for Haraden, I found out which kits I’d need for this project: an Iron Shipwright Ward for DD-183, and a Trumpeter Sullivans for DD-585. I already had a Sullivans in the stash, so I acquired the Ward, and got going. I started the project in September 2016, and finished in March, 2018 (there were some interruptions along the way).
I mounted both ships together, in a case procured by Ron Baluch from Grandpa’s Cabinets. Together, they make an interesting pair – each a member of one of the two biggest classes of destroyers built for the US Navy.
