"Three Sisters"

1/1200 "Three Sisters" US Carrier Diorama (Revell Germany)

These are the three Yorktown-class carriers (Yorktown CV-5, Enterprise CV-6, and Hornet CV-8) from the Revell-Germany 1/1200 "Miniships" series. The detail on these small kits is limited and heavy for the scale, but I've found those aspects are less objectionable in the carriers than in the battleships.

I call this "Three Sisters" and my objective was to show each ship as they appeared at the Battle of Midway. These small kits provide a nice way to try out different camouflage patterns and colors. Other than the different camo schemes, the three models are basically the same - I didn't really attempt to model the many small differences between the ships, finding it beyond my abilities in this scale.
