I paired GHQ's USS Colorado BB-45 and USS West Virginia BB-48 to show the differences between these two ships, both of the 16" gun armed "Maryland" class, at various times in their service careers.
The Colorado is shown as she appeared in 1942; basically the same as pre-war, with some additional radar equipment.
The West Virginia is shown as she appeared in 1944, after her extensive reconstruction. She was rebuilt, like her fellow Pearl Harbor veterans the Tennessee and California, with a much broader beam and a pyramid-shaped superstructure that gave these older battleships a superficial resemblance to the "South Dakota" class battleships.
The GHQ kits are simply the best available in this small scale. I have now built quite a few 1/2400 ships, and no one can match GHQ's quality.
