USS New Jersey 1982 Converted to USS Missouri 1991, "Desert Storm". Conversion included filling aft wood deck section engraved detail, scratch-built forward fire control tower enclosed housing, (as on BB61, BB63 and BB64). GMM P/E Details from "Modern New Jersey", set and "WWII Battleship", set. Resin details include: JAG 16"50 triple turrets, ( Turret 1 modified to duplicate Missouri's), JAG ABL's and 5"38 twin turrets. Paints used: Testors Acryl Marine Colors Haze Grey, WEM Deck Grey, Floquil Railroad Colors, "Mud", for the basic three. Wood base is topped with 1/8" dark blue tinted acrylic sheet, and textured with a layer of acrylic gel medium. All colors lightened for, "scale effect". Rigging simulated with .94 lb/test fishing line.
This display entitled, "Oceanlord 22, green deck", is a tribute to my friend, Mr.Richard Dann. As a US Navy helicopter pilot, Rich landed on no less than 80 coalition surface ships during, "Operation Desert Storm", and of course; includes the Missouri. He remembered his SH60B identifier being, "Oceanlord 22". The term, "green deck", is a verbal landing clearance.
