1/700 DKM U-Boat VIIc & IXc (Hasegawa)
This is Hasegawa's excellent little U Boat set in 1/700 scale. The halves of the sinking ship invite the whole thing to be displayed in a scene of some sort. I used Toms' Modelworks PE set to decorate the U Boats and sinking ship as well as the rails for the Sky Wave S 100. The water is Mod Podge, an acrylic gel used to make decoupage artwork. Since it would look sort of strange without any figures I added some 60 or so from one of Eduards' Carrier Deck crew with a few alterations. The oars, lines and rigging are from my favorite modeling material, stretched sprue. The base is Plaster of Paris poured into a plastic box lid from a storage box and sealed with Mod Podge before painting. I used Tamiyas' clear acrylic paints to make the water colors and added a little Model Master White enamel for detailing.
