1/250 Fantasy Harbor (HMV Paper Models)
“MIJN GROTE DUIM”
It means, freely translated, that I sucked the whole scene ‘out of my big thumb' In other words: I made it up.
So it is a non-existing harbour roughly around 1910 and even that is disputable. I had a lot of fun doing it. I used papermodels which I partly converted into plastic models using the paper as a kind of blueprint. I glued the paper pieces on the plastic decks and I used all kind of materials such as copper for smokestacks and wood and plastic for masts. Lifeboats and ventilators were scratch built. I made small rubber molds so I could easely produce the number and types I needed.
