Today I would like to show you my newest finished diorama of a submarine port and repair docks in 1/700.
The Following models were used
The rest has been completely scratch-built. The water surface has been made of Crepe paper which I painted and treated with a product called “Still Water” from Vallejo.
The building, except for the twin gabled one have been made from cardboard, to which I applied spray filler in order to achieve a simulation of concrete construction. The barbed wire on top of the wall was made from very thin copper wire which I took from an old transformer and wound around a thicker bit of wire. It was then was painted with rust colour.
All vessels and U-Boats had to be modified and polished up with PE’ from the odd-box to make them look a bit more attractive. The weathering was done with powder paints. All the rigging is made using stretched sprue.
The land surfaces surrounding the harbour are also made of cardboard, which I made to look like pieces of square shaped concrete which often was used as “flooring” in those times. .
The build was a lot of fun and I’m very satisfied with the result. I hope you like it.
