San Diego Base

1/700 San Diego, 1944 (Various)

USS Miami(Skywave); USS Gearing (Skywave); USS Flint (Dragon); USS Nassau (converted from USS Bogue Tamiya); and the Drydock and USS Fletcher is from Skywave. The tugboat is a spare Japanese one but tugs all look alike at 1/700 scale, hey? Detail and railings are from GoldMedal Models. The docks are from Custom Diaramics.

The ships and photoetch were purchased from Pacific Front Hobbies. The drydock from Sheriff's Mini-Cars - a model shop in Parramatta Australia - and the Customs Diaramic docks were a gift from my friends Kevin and Karina of Fleetline/Starline Models of Melbourne Australia. The scale is: 1/700 Display my email on my gallery page yes

This is the US Pacific Fleet late in WWII. The magnificent colour schemes of the USN camouflage measures makes modelling the ships a wonderful experience for beginner, intermediate or even advanced modellers.

As you may expect this took a long time to do but it was worth it!

I have begun doing the Pacific Fleet's battleships, carriers and cruisers at sea and when it is finished (2008 probably) and if you are still in business, I will send pix.

PS I am 60 yrs old and in early Alzheimers'. These ships are fighting a battle for me. They are simply helping to keep it at bay.
