The hardest model I have built to date. Fearless was a special challenge. The old Airfix kit of 1968 vintage needed lots of modification and detailing.
I have depicted her and Active, during the Falklands War, 1982.
Both models were painted in WEM colourcotes in their toned down war grey, losing their numbers, markings with the hulls, showing the effects of the raging South Atlantic weather.
I thought the Flyco on Fearless was one deck too low and raised it and the surrounding deck. I also added lots brass etching and plasti card to detail both kits. The models took 5 months to build, including the wooden base. I modeled the sea as I usually do, using cardboard overlaid with wallpaper, spraying it with car aerosol blues and greys.
