1/700 Malaysian frigate K.D. Lekiu. (Kobo-Hiryu)

As with all Kobo-Hiryu kits there was a lot of sanding and prep work to get this kit ready for painting. This is to my knowledge the only kit of this class available. The project took a while due to the large amount of scratchbuilding and detailing involved. The only parts used of the original kit is the hull, main gun and rigid inflatables. The main search radar is from Ozmods and is the only radar available that closely matches a Signaal DA08. The barrel of the  57mm Bofors is a 27 gauge Hypodermic needle, the anchor chain is GMM PE and the railing, 30mm bofors and Wasp helo are WEM. No decals were supplied, so some Jag hull numbers that were just the right size were used. The main advantage that Kobo-Hiryu has over other manufacturers is that they produce models of ships that no one else makes, their finishing is getting better with each new release.
