The AGF 11 Coronado is a former LPD converted to the command role. It was extensively upgraded in 1997 to become the most capable of the command ships. The 1997 conversion included construction of command spaces in former well deck, additional berthing, and extensive shipboard electronics installations. The stern gate has been removed and the docking well permanently sealed. The Mitrofan Moskalenko is a very large Russian LST-type multifunctional amphibious assault ship. It is capable of independently transporting, landing, and supporting a full battalion of naval infantry. The ship can land troops and equipment by helicopter, landing craft, or by beaching. It contains a large bombardment rocket launcher complex, and extensive command and control facilities. T he Mitrofan Moskalenko is the most modern of the three Ivan Rogov class ships. The Ivan Rogov was scrapped in 1996. P.S. - The hull of this model was made from a 1/600 Airfix HMS Fealess kit, which was shortened and cut in various areas to make the correct shape. Sincerely, Chris King This model was modified from the basic Aoshima 1/700 Minsk kit using the bridge from the Italeri Admiral Kuznetsov kit and other spare parts. The fourth unit of the Kiev-class, the Admiral Gorshkov (ex-Baku), is sometimes considered a separate class. Improvements included a phased array radar, extensive electronic warfare installations, and an enlarged command and control suite. The flight deck was extended forward approximately 5 meters over those of the first three ships. Other modifications included the addition of four additional SS-N-12 SLCM launchers (for a total of 12), the deletion of the SUW-N-1 launchers for nuclear armed FRAS-1 anti-ship/anti-submarine ballistic rockets, and deletion of the SA-N-3 surface-to-air missile, and 10 21-inch torpedo tubes. The ship is equipped with an Udav-1 integrated anti-submarine warfare system with 60 anti-submarine rockets. Sincerely, Chris King This model of the USS Chief (MCM 14) was built using a shortened 1/700 Pitroad Yamagumo hull and spare parts. The Avenger class are large, highly capable multirole minesweepers/hunters that can be deployed overseas. These are wooden-hulled minesweepers of relatively conventional design, equipped with modern hunting/sweeping systems. Carry the SQQ-32 minehunting sonar, Mk116 mine neutralization system with 2 SLQ-48 minehunting devices, SLQ-37(V)3 magnetic/acoustic sweep array, SLQ-38 mechanical sweep, and mine disposal divers. The Safeguard class salvage tugs are large, highly useful salvage tugs, capable of all types of salvage & ocean towing and equipped to operate ROVs for undersea search. These are the last USN salvage tugs, but are supplemented by the ATFs and chartered ships in the salvage and fleet support role. Sincerely, Chris King This IL-78 Midas was made from the Pitroad 1/700 metal IL-76 kit, and the IL-96 was modified from a plastic cereal premium and spare parts. The IL-78 Midas is the aerial refueling tanker used by the Russian Air Force. It can be configured for 1, 2, or 3-point refueling (depending on mission), with two underwing pods and the third pod attached to the rear of the fuselage. The IL-96 (registration number RA-96012) serves as the Russian Presidential aircraft. It has numerous satellite communications fairings above the fuselage.
