| This great annual show had its eight holding at the Fleet
Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton UK. It was held on the 14 February
(ST. Valentines Day). Far from causing a drop in attendance the numbers
were actually UP... doubtlessly many wives chose to indulge their loved
ones with a pass to leave them behind and play boats 'n planes.... me included!!
The show is different is that all the models and trade stands are placed among the exhibits so there is ofetn a model dispalyed underneath the prototype( in the case of aircraft..!!) The show is sponsored by Airfix and White Ensign Models, without whose generous support the show would probably not take place. I spent virtually the whole day taking photographs for reference purposes for my upcoming HMS GLORIOUS 1930's carrier project as well as shooting the most interesting model exhibits with the readership of www.modelwarships.com in mind! I make no excuses for including the odd interesting aircraft and airship, they both have pertinence to our shipping models.... I do however aplogise for not noting the name of some of the ships and their creators....No pen or notepad and no time... modellers like to chat and it was only one day!! |
