HMCS Snowberry
by Christian Bruer

1/700 HMCS Snowberry (HP Model)

The Snowberry belonged to the 1939-1940 Programm of Canadian built Corvettes. She and 9 others were built for the Royal Navy but in 1941 loaned to the Royal Canadian Navy. These ships were a bit different from all the other Canadian Corvettes. The aft gun platform on top of the deck house had its position in the middle of the deck house like on the corvettes run by the Royal Navy and not at the end of it as on all other Canadian Corvettes. Snowberry saw service in the convoy battles in the North Atlantic. She took part in the sinking of U-536 north of the Azores on 20th November 1943. The display shows her picking up some survivors.

To get a realistic and good looking model out of the HP kit it is necessary to add some extra parts. The bridge was modified a bit and detailed with scratch parts, I also used the White Ensign photoetch fret for the Flower-Class. Mast and rigging was made from plastic rod and stretched sprue.
