1/700 HMS Amethyst 1945 (Imperial Hobby Productions)
HMS Amethyst, North Atlantic, early 1945. The model is in 1/700 scale
and is based on a kit by Imperial Hobby Productions of HMS Wild Goose 1943,
a sister ship. I only was able to use the hull, funnel and a few small
parts from the kit and even these were significantly modified. The rest
of the model is a combination of scratchbuilding and aftermarket parts.
The most difficult items to make were the twin 40mm Hazemeyer mounts which
each comprise 28 very small pieces of brass rod and plastic. The model
is now with my father who was there in 1945 (he is the figure standing
next to the port Hazemeyer mount).
