CAM Ship
by Rob Kernaghan

1/700 CAM Ship (HP Models)

Essentially this kit seems to be a fairly generic freighter of the WW2-era, but does resemble the Empire class, hence she is unnamed, but deliberately left as being non-specific as I wanted her to represent her kind.

I replaced the kit's catapult with my own, made up from two GMM IJN catapults, a WEM lattice mast and a GMM lattice mast. Crew are from Eduard. All other PE comes from WEM and GMM, sourced from various frets.

The aircraft is a WEM Fulmar, a type carried, but much less frequently than the Hurricane, by this type of ship. The various guns and boats are Skywave and Seals while she flies a GMm red duster.

She is painted in WEM enamels with washes of Rowney oils and dry-brushing with Rowney aryclics. The seascape is my usual formula.

Rigging is stretched sprue (thanks here to Dave Carter for a few pointers on how to rig a merchant ship).

Great fun do to, she was built in about a week.
