HMS Starling
by Anthony Polychroniadis

1/350 HMS Starling (White Ensign)

This is WEM's HMS Starling in 1943 fit.

I used BMK 4 inch barrels and scratchbuilt the twin 20mm Mk V-Vc mounts. The PE sights and the twin 20mm resin barrels come from L'Arsenal. The single 20mm Oerlikons are also L'Arsenal items. The tripod mast is scratchbuilt from brass rod, PE scrap and plasticard bits. The crew is a combination of Fujimi and Goffy figures, suitably modified where necessary.

This was one of those "if-anything-can-go-wrong-it-will" builds, so, everything considered, it did not turn out too bad... It added a lot both to my RN knowledge and to my modeling skills, and proved once again that the dividing line between a hobby and an obsession is very thin indeed!

As always, my thanks to the MW modeling community who are always there with heaps of information on obscure subjects!
