USS Katahdin was the last iron ram for the US Navy. Built by Bath Ironworks, she was launched in 1893, with a very dismal career. First her performance during shake down, and in service was too slow to really be a threat. Before finally being accepted by the Navy, she languished lashed to the pier, because of her poor performance. She served on the east coast during the First World War, then was finally decommed and expended as a target. On the positive side of her service, she was able to test various aspects in low freeboard sea-keeping that would later be adapted into early submarines. The Kit was straight forward, instructions were rough, and pictures for research were lacking. I found a reference to an overall green appearance. This is my second resin ship.
