1/256 USS Freedom LCS-1 (Scratchbuild)
I have been building LCS-1 models since the program started, some in 1/96 scale but the bulk of them are 1/256. I made patterns and molds in 2004 and have been using them up until recently. I basically made resin kits complete with photo etch that I then build. As the design progressed I would have to make changes to the castings that came out of the old molds to keep the models as current as possible. This past fall and winter I made new patterns and molds and I completely redid the photo etch so I can build LCS models that show the ship as commissioned. The changes where so extensive that I had to make a new hull and deckhouse. This is the second model that was produced from the new tooling.
